Exodus 1
These are the names of the Israelites who went to Egypt with Jacob, each bringing his family members: Reuben, Simeon, Levi, and Judah, Issachar, Zebulun, and Benjamin, Dan and Naphtali, Gad and Asher.
In time, Joseph and all of his brothers died, ending that entire generation.
Now there arose a new king over Egypt, who did not know Joseph.

But the people of Israel were fruitful and increased greatly; they multiplied and grew exceedingly strong, so that the land was filled with them.
The midwives said to Pharaoh, “Because the Hebrew women are not like the Egyptian women, for they are vigorous and give birth before the midwife comes to them.
So God dealt well with the midwives. And the people multiplied and grew very strong.
And so it was, because the midwives feared God, that He provided households for them.
Every son that is born to the Hebrews you shall cast into the Nile, but you shall let every daughter live.

себѣ́ жили́ща.

въ рѣку́ вверга́йте,

снабдѣва́йте и́ жи́въ.

Exodus 2
And there went a man of the house of Levi, and took to wife a daughter of Levi.
And the woman conceived, and bare a son: and when she saw him that he was a goodly child, she hid him three months.
And when she could not longer hide him, she took for him an ark of bulrushes, and daubed it with slime and with pitch, and put the child therein; and she laid it in the flags by the river's brink.
And his sister stood afar off, to wit what would be done to him.
And the daughter of Pharaoh came down to wash herself at the river; and her maidens walked along by the river's side; and when she saw the ark among the flags, she sent her maid to fetch it.
And when she had opened it, she saw the child: and, behold, the babe wept. And she had compassion on him, and said, This is one of the Hebrews' children.
And God looked upon the children of Israel, and God acknowledged them.

Отве́рзши же, ви́дитъ отроча́
пла́чущееся въ ковче́жцѣ,
и пощадѣ́ е́ дще́рь фарао́ня,
и рече́: от дѣте́й Евре́йскихъ сiе́.
и при зрѣ́ Бо́гъ на сы́ны Изра́илевы,
и позна́нъ бы́сть и́ми.

Exodus 3
Now Moses was keeping the flock of his father-in-law, Jethro, the priest of Midian, and he led his flock to the west side of the wilderness and came to Horeb, the mountain of God.
And Moses said, “I will turn aside to see this great sight, why the bush is not burned.”
The Lord saw that he was going to look, and God called to him from the midst of the bush, and said: Moses!
Then he said, “Do not come near; take your sandals off your feet, for the place on which you are standing is holy ground.”

изъ купины́, глаго́ля: Моисе́е.
О́нъ же рече́: не при ближа́йся сѣ́мо: изу́й сапоги́
от но́гъ тво и́хъ: мѣ́сто бо, на не́мже ты́ сто и́ши, земля́ свя́та́ е́сть.

Who has made man’s mouth? Who makes him mute, or deaf, or seeing, or blind? Is it not I, the LORD?

But Moses protested again, “What if they won’t believe me or listen to me? What if they say, ‘The LORD never appeared to you’?”
And the LORD said unto him, What is that in thine hand? And he said, A rod.
The Lord said: Throw it to the ground.
Who has made man’s mouth? Who makes him mute, or deaf, or seeing, or blind? Is it not I, the LORD?
Then the LORD told him, “Reach out and grab its tail.” So Moses reached out and grabbed it, and it turned back into a shepherd’s staff in his hand.
And the LORD said unto him, What is that in thine hand? And he said, A rod.
The Lord said: Throw it to the ground.

въ руцѣ́ его́.
И рече́ къ нему́ Госпо́дь:
что́ сiе́ е́сть въ руцѣ́ тво е́й?
О́нъ же рече́: же́злъ.
пове́рзи его́ на зе́млю.

и кто́ сотвори́ нѣ́ма и глу́ха,

Exodus 5
So Moses and Aaron went in to Pharaoh and said to him, Thus says the LORD.

The LORD of the Hebrews, says: Let My people go, so that they may worship Me.
But Pharaoh said, “Who is the LORD, that I should obey his voice and let Israel go? I do not know the LORD, and moreover, I will not let Israel go.”
So Moses and Aaron went in to Pharaoh and said to him, Thus says the LORD.
They said [to him]: The LORD of the Hebrews has called us.
And Pharaoh said, Who is the LORD, that I should obey his voice to let Israel go? I know not the LORD, neither will I let Israel go.
Let us go to the desert for three days' journey to make a sacrifice.
So Moses and Aaron went in to Pharaoh and said to him, Thus says the LORD.

я́ко от пусти́ти
по́йдемъ у́бо путе́мъ тре́хъ дні́й
въ пусты́ню, да пожре́мъ
И по си́хъ вни́де Моисе́й

сiя́ глаго́летъ Госпо́дь Бо́гъ

Exodus 6
And God spoke to Moses and said to him: I am the Lord.
I appeared to Abraham, to Isaac, and to Jacob, as God Almighty, but by my name the LORD I did not make myself known to them.
The "Lord" * did not reveal himself to them;
I also established my covenant with them to give them the land of Canaan, the land in which they lived as sojourners.

Thou shalt speak all that I command thee: and Aaron thy brother shall speak unto Pharaoh, that he send the children of Israel out of his land.
And I will harden Pharaoh's heart, and multiply my signs and my wonders in the land of Egypt.
But Pharaoh shall not hearken unto you, that I may lay my hand upon Egypt, and bring forth mine armies, and my people the children of Israel, out of the land of Egypt by great judgments.

Then the LORD said unto Moses, Go in unto Pharaoh, and tell him, Thus saith the LORD God of the Hebrews, Let my people go, that they may serve me.
And if thou refuse to let them go, behold, I will smite all thy borders with frogs:
And the LORD did according to the word of Moses; and the frogs died out of the houses, out of the villages, and out of the fields.
